Adam Schaeuble’s ideal content creation routine

The following is an excerpt from a recent Podcasting Business School newsletter, by Adam Schaeuble. I originally met Adam at Podfest in 2023, and he was a collaborative sponsor of the very first LIP Virtual Summit in 2024.

Adam freely shares all kinds of great info on his podcast by the same name. To get this type of insight every week, subscribe to the Podcasting Business School newsletter directly!

With this Mentorship Monday email, my goal is to give you a simple piece of advice that I wish I knew when I started my journey as a content entrepreneur back in 2015.

📝 Here’s my advice for today: Create a routine that allows you to create your very best content.

Confession time: My wife thinks I’m an alien from another planet.

If you are a content creator/entrepreneur who is married to someone who has a “normal” 9-5 career….you know exactly what I mean….LOL!

Our son Henry is a freshman in high school and he has to do a TON of writing (which I LOVE!).

When he has a paper due my wife and I have very different approaches to how he should approach it.

➡️ My wife: Go write the paper right now!

➡️ Me: He just got home from a two hour basketball practice and it’s Friday night! Let’s let him eat, relax, and watch TV tonight. Then tomorrow he can work on his paper after a big breakfast.

For me, my content creation routine is a BIG deal

Back in 2015 I used to create podcast episodes within the cracks of my busy schedule simply because I had to get out that weekly episode.

Then I discovered that my content was MUCH better if I curated an intentional routine to help facilitate my best work.

Right now it looks like this:

I record my podcasts on Tuesday morning, but before I hit record I…

✔️ Have taken care of all of the family to-do’s of the morning (kids fed, to school, etc).

✔️ I take a 15 minute walk outside with no distractions (aka…no audiobooks, podcasts, etc). I just think about my topic of the week.

✔️ I do box breathing for 5 minutes.

✔️ I drink my cold brew coffee.

✔️ I read a business or personal growth book for 10 minutes.

✔️ I spend about 10 minutes curating written posts for my Threads account.

✔️ I review my notes for the podcast episode I’m about to record.

Then….I hit the RECORD button and unleash some greatness!

I know that I will create better content if I have some distraction free thinking time, some reading time, and some writing time….and some CAFFEINE!…LOL

Now I fully realize that many of you are side hustling big time with your podcast.

You look at my full routine and think there is NO WAY I have time for this!

You are probably correct….BUT….can you build your own miniature version of this content creation routine?

Here are a few quick questions to consider that might help you out:

✅ 1. What time of day do you feel like your creativity is primed?

✅ 2. Is there a specific day of the week that you can always block off some time for content creation?

✅ 3. Is there anything you can directly associate with the times that you feel most creative? (reading, going for walks, meditation, writing, caffeine, etc)

By the way, I love helping my clients figure all of this out!

Hit my discovery call link and hop on my calendar if you’d like to discuss working on this together.

I hope this email has helped you out today!

Your Pod Pal,

Adam
